OSCA's Awards Tradition - All nominations

The Ontario School Counsellors' Association has a long standing tradition (over 35 years!) of recognizing and awarding those who stand out in the field of Guidance and Career Education. Each year, at our annual November conference, the Ontario School Councellors' Association recognizes individuals and/or organizations that have made a significant contribution to Guidance and Career Education. We can say with confidence that our past award winners have helped thousands find their pathway successful futures!

OSCA's awards are an excellent way of recognizing your most dedicated peers in the following categories:

OSCA's Awards Policy

The Ontario School Counsellors' Association annual awards are designed to recoginze both our members and exceptional non-members.  In ever case, to honour the integrity of our awards traditions, we can only accept nominations and supporting evidence from our active members.  It is the responsibility of OSCA's Governance Committe to administer our awards policy and procedure.  Nomination forms are only available online via OSCA's website awards nomination process.  Completed nomination forms must be submitted online by Wednesday, September 25th, 2013 to be considered. It is understood that members of the OSCA executive and board may not be nominated for the Morgan D. Parementer Memorial Award during the time they hold office.

Awards with OSCA Membership Conditions

Nominations for the following awards can only be for OSCA members in good standing:

• The Career/Lifeskills Resources Award for Excellence in Career Education (1998)

• The Elmer Huff Award for Media Resources (1979)

• The Phil Hedges Award (2004)

• The Frank Clute Award for Professional Research (1979)

• The Howard R. Beattie Award for Professional Contribution (1978)

• The Marion Axford Award for Elementary Guidance (1992)

• The Morgan D. Parmenter Award (1968)

• The Russ Seltzer Award for Contribution to Counsellor Education in Ontario (1986)

Awards Not Requiring OSCA Membership

Nominations for the following awards are not exculsive to OSCA members:

• The Career Education Citation
• The Certificate of Appreciation (1990)
• The Daryl L. Cook Peer Helping Award (1993)
• The Olive Diefenbaker Award of Merit (1972)

Nomination Process

Each of us is aware of a colleague who is innovative and professionally energized in their work with students in their school. Consider nominating them for one of OSCA's awards to validate their contribution to our profession. To nominate a candidate, simply click on the "Nominate" link on any of the awards' description page. All nominations MUST be supported by TWO current OSCA members.
